Work with the CMO chat
The 10ex CMO is one chat you can open from every page. Ask it to research, plan, build, or edit anything in your workspace: “find 50 VPs of Marketing at fintech companies”, “build the email campaign for this strategy”, “why is Acme hot this week?”.
It works with your real data and tools. Anything that sends, spends, or changes something outside 10ex waits for your approval first. See Approvals and guardrails.
Open the chat
- Click 10ex CMO in the top bar, or press ⌘. (Ctrl+. on Windows).
- The chat opens as a panel on the right. Drag its edge to make it wider or narrower.
- Use the expand button in the panel header to make it full screen. Clicking a link inside the chat collapses it again so you can see the page.
- On a phone, the CMO button sits in the top bar.
Closing the panel doesn’t stop a reply that’s in progress.
Conversations and rooms
Your main conversation is the Workspace conversation. Some pages have their own conversation, called a room: a strategy, a campaign, or an agent. The chip at the top of the chat box tells you where you are, for example Workspace or campaign: Q4 webinar push.
- Click the x on a room chip to go back to the Workspace conversation.
- Moving to another page never switches the conversation on you.
- Each agent has its own room on its page under Agents.
Start a new chat or find an old one
- New chat (in the panel header) starts a fresh conversation in the same room.
- The history button opens Recent chats. Search by name, click Load more for older ones, or delete a conversation you don’t need.
- You can also open the chat as a full page at app.10ex.ai/copilot . It’s the same conversation as the panel.
Give it context
The CMO always sees the page you’re on. A chip like on Contacts appears in the chat box. Click its x if you don’t want it included.
To point at something specific:
- Type @ or click the Add context button, then pick a strategy, campaign, content piece, agent, or segment.
- On a segment, click a member row to select it. A chip shows the selection, and the CMO acts on exactly that record.
The + menu
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Attach files | Upload files for the CMO to read in this conversation. |
| Add context | Same as typing @. |
| Connect apps | Connect a mailbox, ad account, or CMS the CMO can act through. |
The microphone button next to @ lets you dictate. It uses your browser’s speech recognition, so it works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari but not Firefox.
Press Enter to send and Shift+Enter for a new line. While the CMO is working, the send button becomes Stop.
What you’ll see while it works
- Thinking and steps. A live line shows what it’s doing (“Searched the web”, “Checked your data”). When it’s done, this folds into a one-line summary. Click it to see each step.
- Plan. For bigger jobs, a checklist shows each step and how many are done.
- Questions. When the CMO needs a decision, it shows choices as buttons. Pick one, or type your own answer in Or type your own answer….
- Approval cards. When it wants to send an email, launch an ad, write to a connected app, or spend credits, it shows exactly what it will do and waits. Click Approve or Reject. Click Edit to change the email or the details first.
- Job cards. A run handed to an agent shows its steps live and its final state.
- Results. Created records (a segment, a campaign, a content piece) appear as cards that link to them. Generated images show as thumbnails. Files show as cards with Download.
- Remembered. When the CMO saves something to memory, a small chip says what kind of fact it was. See Knowledge and memory.
Spending credits
The CMO starts paid work without asking when it costs 500 credits or less. Above that, it tells you the cost and asks first. Your balance is in the top bar. See Credits and billing.
Turn a one-off into a routine
When an agent finishes a run from the chat, its result card can offer Make this recurring. That drafts a workflow, switched off, and opens it for you to review. Nothing runs on a schedule until you turn it on. See Workflows.
Give feedback
Each reply has a copy button and thumbs up/down. Feedback helps the CMO learn what works for your workspace.
Common questions
I lost my connection mid-reply. The chat reconnects and picks up where it left off. If a message never sent, your text and attachments go back into the chat box.
It’s waiting and nothing is happening. Scroll to the latest card. If an approval card is open, the CMO is waiting for you.
What can my role do in chat? The same things you can do in the app. A viewer can ask questions but can’t send or spend. See Roles and permissions.
